I spoke to TinyCo yesterday regarding the disappearance of the event timer, this is why there is no countdown anymore:
“We discovered a bug which caused the event to end early for a small number of players which was tied to the timer, so we’ve disabled it in order to prevent it from happening in the future. The actual time for the event hasn’t changed, though!”

I’m disappointed because the event disappeared entirely for me, I had it up until the pyramid opened, then after an update I couldn’t play because it continued to crash, so I uninstalled and reinstalled it a couple of days later, and now I can play, but I only have the museum, cat statue, and bronze adventure statue

I don’t think they will be, which is a shame as I found it useful too! But, some players could have ended up with an early event finish.
